Game Flow

A typical poker round follows a standard flow, regardless of the variant you are playing (Texas Hold’em, Omaha, etc.).
Here’s a breakdown of the main stages:

1. The Deal
Starting the Round: Each player is dealt two hole cards (in Texas Hold’em) or more, depending on the variant. These are private cards that only the player can see.
Community Cards: In games like Texas Hold’em, after the initial deal, community cards are dealt face-up in the middle of the table. These cards are shared by all players and will be used to form the best possible 5-card hand.

2. Betting Rounds
Poker games usually have several betting rounds, during which players can choose from the following actions:
Check: If no one has bet yet, a player may check, passing the action to the next player without adding money to the pot.
Bet: Players can place a bet if no one has bet yet in that round.
Call: If a bet has been made, players can call to match the amount of the bet.
Raise: Players can raise by increasing the bet made by others in that round.
Fold: If a player doesn’t want to continue with their hand, they can fold, discarding their cards and exiting the round.
Betting Rounds in Texas Hold’em:
Pre-flop: After the hole cards are dealt, the first round of betting begins.
Post-flop: Three community cards are dealt face-up. Another round of betting takes place.
Post-turn: A fourth community card (the turn) is dealt face-up, followed by another round of betting.
Post-river: The fifth and final community card (the river) is dealt, followed by the final round of betting.

3. The Showdown
After the final betting round (following the river card), if two or more players remain in the hand, a showdown occurs. This is where players reveal their cards to determine who has the best hand.
Hand Comparison: The player with the best 5-card hand, formed from the hole cards and the community cards, wins the pot.
Hand Ranking: The hand is ranked according to poker hand rankings, from a high card to a royal flush.

Summary of a Typical Round:
The Deal: Players receive hole cards and community cards are dealt.
Betting Rounds: Players bet, raise, or fold through multiple rounds of betting.
The Showdown: Remaining players reveal their hands, and the best hand wins.
